2020-2021 FAFSA – Full Walk-through

[PLEASE NOTE: We do our best to respond to comments throughout the workday (8am-5pm MT Monday-Friday), but if you need immediate or after-hours assistance, you can always call Federal Student Aid at 800-433-3243 or use their chat feature: https://studentaidhelp.ed.gov/app/chat/chat_launch]

Need help with the FAFSA? This is a step-by-step video walkthrough of the 2020-2021 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) from the paying for college experts on the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA) Community Outreach Team.

The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It’s the federal application you must complete in order to determine your eligibility for federal aid for college – including grants, work-study, and federal student loans. If you don’t submit your FAFSA, you could be missing out on free money for college.

Learn more about paying for college at our website, CompleteFinancialAid.org.

Please note, this video moves quickly. We recommend the following: watch a section, pause, complete that section, repeat until finished.

If you run into any trouble on the FAFSA, click on the question mark icon next to each question on the FAFSA for additional clarification. If that doesn’t help, contact the Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid by phone at 800-433-3243.

Which FAFSA should you choose? If you will be attending college in Fall 2020 or Spring 2021, choose the 2020-2021 FAFSA. If you will be attending college in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020, choose the 2019-2020 FAFSA (visit our YouTube channel for the 2019-2020 FAFSA – Full Walk-through). If you are attending college in a summer semester, talk to the financial aid office at your college or university to ask which FAFSA you should complete.
